Born in Sale, Cheshire, Julie showed from a very young age that she was naturally creative and had a love for art.
Her mother used to say that the first time she spotted her real talent was when Julie was just six years old, when she ripped a piece of cardboard off a box and painted a blue lady, “it was truly beautiful”.
Since graduating from Loughborough Art College, Julie has taught art at secondary school level. Whilst not the most creative in the kitchen, she never fails to capture something truly special and unique within her art work.
Her vibrant abstract images are inspired by her travels to the Caribbean, Italy and her life long love of North Wales. Her distinct use of colour is influenced by Matisse, Hodgkin and Heron, whose work she finds inspirational.
Julie uses a range of media and techniques to capture the world around her in a loose and immediate style. Her understanding of the subtleties of different light effects and her bold use of colour are the hallmarks that create the harmony of her highly collectible paintings and prints. She has now published over 30 prints in limited edition.
